Hi again! I was just looking at the NeuroCalm ingredients again and I notice melatonin isn't included. I'm sure there is a good reason but can't figure it out. What's your take on melatonin? Thanks much!

Bria,

I love melatonin, but since it is a hormones, it is best taken as a sublingual. If you put it in a pill you swallow, you will lose so much of its potency and potential due to the degradation that goes on in the intestines and liver.

When you take all hormones, they work best as sublinguals, because they are ready to begin working...they don't have to be restructured or repackaged, as most vitamins and minerals have to in order for them to be properly absorbed.

FYI....Serotonin converts into melatonin...so if your body is not making enough melatonin, and most people who are under lots of stress and are struggling with depression, anxiety, mood swings, etc would benefit from Neuro Calm...so their body would start making these hormones on their own, instead of hoping a synthetic drug does it for them.

Thanks for your quick response. You've convinced me to give the NeuroCalm another chance which I have the past few nights. I haven't had a good night's sleep yet. As I really do need to get some sleep, what else can you suggest? Is there a danger in taking something like a Benadryl along with the NeuroCalm until the NeuroCalm starts working on its own (how long should it take for NeuroCalm to work)? I've had some success with Benadryl in the past but I don't like the idea of taking drugs; I'm sure it's better to support my system to work as it should. Thanks and God bless you.

bria,

without knowing what else is going on in your life, you have to remember Neuro Calm is not a drug like Benadryl, you have to remember that at the end of the night, you have to also be slowing down. I always see patients who expect to fall asleep right after doing things that are mentally stimulating, such as answering e-mails, video games, work, etc....things that trigger a lot of brain stimulation. This is important because that brain stimulation triggers the release of your stimulatory brain messengers, that are like a cup of coffee. They will keep you up, so even though you are taking one of the best natural products like the Neuro Calm, it still isn't enought to counterbalance the brain stimulation you are getting.

AGain, I don't know what else is going on. So, take a look at what you do in the evening hours, after the sun goes down, remember before the advent of the light bulb, when the sun went down all we could do is read and sew.....if you are doing a lot of other stuff other than that...that could be what is working against you. maybe that may help, i know we have had great success with people using the Neuro Calm for sleep, but don't count on any supplement to do all the work, we have to do something more than swallow the pills.

Hi. Thanks again for your response. I just wanted to clarify that I don't have any trouble falling asleep. It's staying asleep that I'm struggling with. Would it be dangerous to take NeuroCalm and Benadryl together? Thanks.

Bria,

I doubt that it would be dangerous, but you would have to look at the Benadryl ingredients, and look at any other conditions or drugs you could be taking.

The fact that you are having trouble staying asleep leads me to believe it is a blood sugar problem and adrenal fatigue problem. Have you had your adrenals and blood sugar measured? If not that could be what is going on. There is a lot of information throughout the Blog and Article Links that will help answer those problems, but as your blood sugar is dropping in the middle of the night your adrenals are releasing adrenaline to help raise and stabilize your blood sugar instead of cortisol, because of the adrenal fatigue. But the adrenaline is also a brain stimulant...which is why you wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep....that adrenaline hit was like a double expresso hitting your nervous system.

Hope that helps and you get some proper care for your blood sugar and adrenal glands.
