I had my hormone testing done and my DHEA levels were 988.2, which are extremely out of the normal levels of 200-400.

I know DHEA is a precursor to testosterone and that higher levels of testosterone can be attributed to acne. Do you think that my high levels of DHEA could be a large contributor to my persistent acne over these years?

Also, in regards to hormonal testing, I heard that blood serum tests are more accurate than saliva testing for hormones...what do you think?

Thank you! :)

In short, my 2 questions are...

What causes an extremely healthy person as myself to have hormonal imbalances (i'm a vegan health coach)? Stress alone can't be the culprit or everyone would have acne.

Is the only way to regulate excessive androgen hormones through hormonal means (like spironolactone) to suppress the male androgen DHEA??

This is the ONLY approach in ALL my research... *sign*...

I was reading that normal dhea levels for my age (25) should be between 65-380...but mine is 990!

I lift weights 3-4 days a week and perform cardio 6 days a week...but surely this isn't the reason why or every woman would have acne?! I'm confused...
