Dr. Lopez, I've had adrenal fatigue for 12 months and learned to manage my low blood sugar levels by reading your book. Since I was at stage 3, I decided to have two phone consults with you. You provided me with some excellent coaching! I started an exercise routine 6 months ago simply by taking 5 min walks around the block. That was all I could back then. (Pretty discouraging compared to the distance I used to run before my illness) NOw I have increase my time, distance, and pace to a walk-jog routine. The problem I have is the more energy I get, the faster and longer I go, thus triggering the old hypoglycemia sympthoms I had a year ago. It seems that although my energy and stamina has increased, my body is unable keep up and regulate the drop in sugar levels. I am on a high protein, low glycemic carb diet. What could I do to compensate for low blood sugar issues as I increase my exercise routine?

Noel01, Hearing you say that you are exercising more and are on a high protein, low glycemic diet...we need to make sure you are giving your body enough carbs...especially after your workout...because depending on how hard/intense the workout...you may be draining your body of all the carbs and are causing your own self-induced hypoglycemia. I am not saying you are But I have seen it many times before. To get specific we probably need to do a half hour consult...but I would also like to have a 5-7 day food diary....to better help access if the low blood sugar is from diet or the body isn't regulating itself properly...it's a process of elimination. Hope that helps, and glad you are doing better, sounds like we just need to adjust a bit here and there. Dr. Len
