I am 49 years old, in good health, eat a healthy diet and walk two miles a day. I also have costochondritis. I have a high threshold for pain and I am not a whiner but the associated pain really limits my ability to be an effective mother and wife on many days unless I take the anti-inflammatory drug-- Mobic or Meloxicam. This takes all the pain away but I would like to get off of that and onto a natural solution.

I stopped taking the Mobic and started taking Infla-Zyme 6 days ago (2 tabs, 3 times daily on a empty stomach) but the pain is coming back today. Arg! Any suggestions? I THANK YOU AND MY TWO PRECIOUS CHILDREN THANK YOU! --Beth in Alabama

Beth,

I know costochondritis can be very painful, but we also need to get to the real root of your problem....inflammation and also possibly muscles and tendons around those specific ribs are probably over-stretched and need some attention...in which case i would find a good chiropractor who is trained in Applied Kinesiology.

Let's deal with the inflammation issue first. I always recommend taking 2-4 capsules of Sea Energy along with the InflaZyme to help reduce inflammation and pain...The Sea Energy helps reduce the amount of inflammatin your body is making, while the InflaZyme eats-up whatever inflammation is out there...together they work at reducing inflammation from two different directions.

Remember the foods we eat help our body make the same little drugs we spend money on at the drug store, so they can do what those anti-inflamatory drugs do...without the terrible side effects.

Also, pay attention to your diet (take the online health quizzes to check to see if your digestive system is contributing to your inflammation problem)...if your digestive system is always inflamed (bloating, gas, indigestion, etc.) that is triggering a lot of inflammation and could be contributing more inflammation to your body than it can handle. If your tummy is part of the problem..follow the elimination diet that I describe on my BLOG and ARTICLES...remove dairy, wheat, corn, soy, artificial sweeteners, trans fats for a minimum of two weeks and see if that helps.

Also, cut down on the amount of saturated fats (typically found in meat, chicken and milk...NO trans fats...NO junk foods or fast foods) and eat more monounsaturated fats. Eat more fish, raw nuts and seeds and cook with olive oil.

This will help you become healthier for your little kids. Another think you can do for the pain is to gently massage around the areas where the pain is at...this will bring more blood to the area and speed up the healing process...

I hope this helps, let us know your results from adjusting your diet and adding the Sea Energy.

Hi there - im 31 years old and have been diagnosed with costochondritis - I have had 3 different opinions from 3 diff doctors as I was convinced I had a problem with my heart.

However after reading up on this condition all my symptoms point to this - I was just wondering how long this condition is going to last and what can I take to reduce the pain.

Is it natural that if im out and dancing with my friends it can sometimes make it worse and at times get short of breath (but i think this may be becos im panicking)

thanks

MableCable,

costochondritis is inflammation of your rib cage or rib bones, specifically around the ligament, cartlidge connection.

If that is what you have, the main goal would be to reduce the inflammation in your body. We do that two ways.

1. Eating foods that reduce inflammation such as olive oil, fish, nuts and seeds...instead of red meats and chicken and eggs. Plus I would take high dosage of Sea Energy, which is a high potency fish oil and will aid in reducing the amount of inflammation in your body.

2. Quit eating things that inflame your body....Hidden foo allergies are very common, even though most people don't suspect them, but once they stay away from these foods for a full two weeks, they may notice a difference. Stay away for 2 Weeks all dairy (milk, yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, ice cream...etc, wheat, corn, soy, coffee, artificial sweeteners and especially "Trans fatty acids"....NO margarine or NO partically hydrated oils...if you are not sure what I am talking about read my blog and articles that will spell it out more accurately for you.

But the greatest source of inflammation for most people comes from their gut....so if you took our online health quizzes and did poorly on the digestive section...you need to fix this in order to help your body deal with the costochronditis.

Lastly, I would be taken "InflaZyme"...it is a natural anti-inflammatory...so it will eat up all the inflammation in your body....read up about it on the site.

I think this problem can easily be remedied, with proper diet and supplementation.

Mable Cable,

the glucosamine/chondritin will help if there is degeneration of the ligamentous and cartlidge structure, but if your problem is more a result of inflammation...It probably wont work as you would like it to, which is why I also recommend fish oils (Sea Energy) as a first line of defense.

Give the gluco/chond. combo a try, but I would put your pennies on fish oils before anything.

bishesh,

If it is costochondritis....that means it is a result of inflammation and possibly one of your rib heads are out of position, or as a good chiropractor would tell you...it is subluxated and needs to be adjusted to be put back in position.

I would try and find a good chiropractor who also is trained in Applied Kinesiology. I would also look at your diet and stay away from foods that you may have a hidden food allergy to such as: dairy, wheat, corn, soy, coffee and artificial sweeteners. This is very important, because if you are struggling with any type of digestive problems....bloating, gas, indigestion, heartburn, etc....it could be triggering more inflammation in your body and your body may not be able to handle all the inflammation that is coming if from your "physical" problem of costochondritis as well as, the inflammation that is being triggered from your diet.

I would eat lots of foods that contain omega 3 fatty acids, like olive oil, nuts and seeds and use a good fish oil like our Sea Energy. Remember the essential fatty acids, the fish oils help reduce inflammation, which could help reduce your pain. And read about our Inflazyme and find some "proteolytic" enzymes to help with the pain.

Boswellia, tumeric, ginger, bromeline are all great herbs and nutrients to help reduce the pain, and don't forget to read some of the articles and Blog about "Hidden Food Allergies" and Inflammation and Pain.

bishesh,

those medications will help lessen the stomach pain but it won't do anything about addressing the cause of your digestive problems. TAke a few minutes and read some of the articles and search my Blog to learn more about digestive issues and how they can be causing so many other problems.
