Hi Dr. Len,
I have been reading a little about hCG as a treatment for obesity, and I saw something in a technical article about hCG and the adrenals. What is your opinion about this treatment, and how does it relate to adrenal fatigue?

Thanks,
Becky

Becky,

I have not heard anything about HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) a hormone that elevates when you are pregnant and its association with obesity.

I don't know if you meant to say HGH which is Human Growth Hormones....if that is the case let me know and I'll reply.

otherwise, I am in the dark about HCG and obesity.

Dr. Len

Dr. Len,
It is hCG that I am talking about. It is not used that much in the US, but is used overseas. Information about it can be found on the web by searching "hcg obesity." Here are two websites that I found http://hcgobesity.org/, and http://www.ghihrt.com/weightloss.html. I did not realize how controversial it is for weightloss use.

I was hoping that you would know all about it and be able to tell me if there was any connection to hCG and adrenal fatigue. There are so many people out there talking about ways to lose weight and get a handle on stress, that it can get confusing. It is hard to know who to listen to and who not to listen to. I will always listen to you, Dr. Len. 8-)

Thanks,
Becky

Becky,

What's the old saying, "don't mess with mother nature."

anytime you start manipulating hormones without trying to address what is causing those hormones to be out of balance, you are missing the boat.

I read one of those websites...and when it says, taking hcg along with a low calorie diet and exercise should help you lose weight....how about just following a good diet and exercise plan and sticking with it...how much will that do by itself versus adding HCG?

I would stay away from it and address what you need to be doing to get your body into its "FAT BURNING" ZONE. take the online Health quizzes to see what is going on there and get a copy of "To Burn or Not to Burn, Fat is the Question" to help you sort through all the facts about losing the weight and keeping it off.

Blessings,

Dr. Len
