Why I Like Green Drinks

green drinks,

If you didn't know, I'm a fan of green drinks, and here are 4 reasons why I think everyone could benefit by drinking one.

First and foremost, you have to taste it – that’s a big plus.  The neurological signals you activate through your nervous system when you taste or smell something is so much more beneficial than simply swallowing a pill and hoping your body recognizes it.  Whether you realize it or not, taste and smell are signals to your digestive system as to what is coming down the pipe.  This prepares your whole digestive system with all the necessary fluids and chemicals to help breakdown and assimilate what you ate.

The simple fact that tasting your food activates your digestive system and gets all those fluids moving, is why it is recommended to take your vitamins with your food.  This is because you have basically tasted pretty much everything you are going to find in the capsule or tablet you are swallowing.

Secondly, green drinks are very alkalizing, because they contain many of the nutrients found in fruits and vegetables.  This is important, because the more acidic you are the greater chance you are of struggling with some type of health issue. Most people who struggle with various chronic, degenerative disease are more acidic.

Remember, fruits and vegetables are typically very alkalizing....yes there are some fruits that are acidic, but for the most part, fruits and veggies will make you more alkaline.  Processed, refined foods, grains, sugar, coffee, tea, and yes, protein make you more acidic. Maybe that is why fruits and veggies are very healthy for you - they keep you alkaline?  Or it could be because they come with lots of nutrients and fiber, as well?  Either way, one of the most eye opening tests I do with patients, and you can do this yourself with ph paper, is to test your acid-alkaline balance of both your saliva and urine.  This will give you some direct insight to your overall good health.

FYI....exercise produces lactic acid, which is acidic to the body, and athletes or those of us who regularly exercise are producing more acidity within our body, so be smart and balance out that acidity from your workout.

The 3rd reason I like green drinks is because they are like a good multi-vitamin, and have a little bit of everything in them.  In fact, most green drinks have more than what you will find in most multi's.  This is because you can't pack as many nutrients into a capsule or tablet as you can in a scoop of green powder.  This allows the user to actually get more from a green drink than your typical multi, unless they want to swallow 3 or 4 pills of the same thing.

why a green drink;

Think of your multivitamin like a suitcase, and you can only pack so much into one suitcase.  If you want to stuff more into the suitcase (vitamin) you have to pack a second suitcase.  What I'm trying to say is you can pack a lot more vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, herbs, etc, in a scoop of green powder than you can typically pack in a pill form.

FYI…anyone struggling with diabetes, pre-diabetes or blood sugar problems should be taking a good multivitamin or green drink because every time you go pee, all that excess sugar is coming out of you and it is carrying out a lot of vitamins and minerals with it.

The last reason I like green drinks is because all the nutrients you get in a green drinks are important in helping your liver clean and detoxify itself.  The reason most people need a good detox is because their regular diet is void of fruits and veggies.  However, if you drink or consume (eat) all those nutrients on a regular basis, you are helping your body function the way it supposed to, and probably won't have to do as many detox, because your everyday diet is helping detox itself .

So if you are wondering where to start when it comes to getting healthy or staying healthy, I suggest starting out with a good green drink. You can find some with extra antioxidants, herbs, berries, probiotics and more.
