Natural Medicines Come Together

Chiropractic & Nutrition - Its All Natural!

2400 years ago Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine said “Look first to the spine for disease” and “Let food be your medicine and let medicine be your food.”

Let’s see what he was talking about.  The spine or nervous system develops immediately after conception.  The nervous system, consisting of the brain and spinal column is a network of communication.  Through the spinal column these nerves are constantly sending and receiving information to every gland, organ and muscle.  The nervous system is so important that it was encased in a coat of armor, made of bone, consisting of the skull and spinal vertebrae.

Hippocrates knew the nerves were sending information and realized if this information was interfered with there was a potential for ill health.  This past century research proved that nerve interference, caused by pressure on a nerve, could reduce nerve transmission.  In fact the weight of a nickel can reduce nerve transmission by 40%.  With the reduction of nerve information being sent to the muscles, organs and glands it is now possible to understand how ill health can begin.  “Look first to the spine for disease.”

Two centuries later, B. J. Palmer the founder of chiropractic, brought back those original teaching to the healing arts.  Chiropractic and spinal manipulation work naturally to remove nerve interference.  The general principle of chiropractic is that nerve impulses are being interfered with.  This produces misinformation being sent to and from the muscles, organs and glands caused by spinal vertebra (bones) being out of proper position or alignment.  A bone out of proper alignment is called subluxated.  When a nerve is sending less information caused by a subluxation, it sends less information to its corresponding muscles and we experience pain.  The nerve that is subluxated also sends less information to its corresponding gland and organ (intestines, kidneys, thyroid, lungs, ovaries, liver, etc).  This can start a domino effect and a road to ill health and dis-ease.

The second principle is nutrition “Let food be your medicine and let medicine be your food.”  This simply means that food can have a positive healing effect.  The inverse is also true!  Foods can have a negative destructive effect.  The choice is ours!  Do we choose to eat foods that are loaded with nutritional value (vitamins, minerals, enzymes, good fats, antioxidants, fiber) or do we choose to eat foods that have no nutritional value (refined foods, fast foods, junk foods, processed white flour and white sugar, foods loaded with pesticides, soft drinks) and are negative and destructive to our health.

It was Thomas Edison who said “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, he will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and the cause and prevention of disease.”  The future is now and the goal is to help each patient understand how the body functions in order to become proactive in their health care.  If your goal is to restore good health and to “treat the cause – not the symptom” with natural holistic methods using chiropractic and nutrition, you have come to the right place.
